A garden symposium will be held by the Jamestown Garden Club from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2 at the YWCA Lake Lodge, 185 E Terrace Ave., Lakewood.

The doors open at 9:30 for participants to check in, grab a cup of coffee and browse the great items offered for sale at the Chic Boutique. You will find great things for you or for holiday gifts.

I will be the first speaker at 11 a.m., presenting “45 Gardening Tips in 45 Minutes.” I share some of the best tips I’ve come across while interviewing home gardeners and gardening experts. It’s fun just to see whether I can beat the clock!

After lunch, Kim Carlson, owner of Pea Pod and Juniper, a flower and gift shop in Lakewood, will demonstrate three floral arrangements. The arrangements will be raffled off.

The last speaker will be Andrea Locke, coordinator of WNY PRISM, who will discuss invasive pests.

The cost for the day, including lunch is $30.

The deadline for reservations is Monday, Oct. 24. Due to the limited space, only 100 participants can be accommodated. Reservations and prepayment are required and non-refundable. (You can send a substitute in your place if necessary.)

To make reservations, contact Jane Kidder at 716-665-1523 or 716-789-4620. Send checks to her at 3656 Rt. 394, Ashville NY 14710.
