Beautification grants for gardening projects in the City of Buffalo are available through Gardens Buffalo Niagara. This year, previously separate funding programs have been merged into one: the Marvin Lunenfeld Grants (previously the Lunenfeld and Vibrant Buffalo grants).
Awards of up to $1,000 will be based on the overall project cost and matching funds from government, private contributions or volunteer sweat equity.
Projects can include community gardens, street-side planters, historical garden restoration, annuals for baskets—pretty much any garden-related project.
Grant applications are due on or before March 15.
Projects need to be public—seen from the street—and should be designed to bring neighbors together. See more information and a link to the application here. Send questions to grants@buffaloniagara.com or call (716) 247-5004.
Gardens Buffalo Niagara creates more vibrant and beautiful communities by sharing gardens through events like Garden Walk Buffalo, America’s largest garden tour; the East Side Garden Walk; Tours of Open Gardens on Thursdays and Fridays in July; the Buffalo Style Garden Art Sale; and promoting the 15 other garden tours in the region.
