
You can register now for the popular Make-it, Take-it Workshops at the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens, 2655 South Park Ave., Buffalo.
Space is limited and pre-registration is required.
The workshops are:
- Tropical Glass Terrarium Workshop, 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11. Participants will each build a terrarium from tropical cuttings from the Botanical Gardens’ collection. You should take gloves and a box for transporting your creation. The cost for this workshop is $20 for the general public and $15 for Botanical Gardens’ members.
- Hypertufa Container Workshop, 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20. Hypertufa planters are porous. You can create your own hypertufa planter from peat moss, Portland cement and perlite. This is a messy workshop and you should wear appropriate clothing. Take a container to use to mold your hypertufa planter, no larger than 12 inches by 16 inches. All other materials to make the planter will be provided. The cost is $30 for the general public and $25 for Botanical Gardens’ members.
- Fresh Thanksgiving Arrangement Workshop, 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19. Two identical sessions will be offered on Nov. 19 and 20. In this floral design workshop, participants will create a beautiful autumnal arrangement for their Thanksgiving get-together. Please take hand clippers, a pair of scissors and a large box to transport the arrangement. The cost for this workshop will be $40 for the general public and $35 for Botanical Gardens’ members. The Botanical Gardens will be closed November 19-22 to prepare for the holiday exhibit, so this workshop will be held in the Administration Building next to the Botanical Gardens.
- Fresh Thanksgiving Arrangement Workshop, 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20. This is a repeat of the Nov. 19 workshop. Note that the Botanical Gardens will be closed November 19-22, so this workshop will be held in the Administration Building next to the Botanical Gardens.
