Lumagination, the spectacular light show that starts tomorrow at the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens, will provide a new experience this year because of a collaboration with the University at Buffalo as well as the newly opened Asian exhibits that will provide a new backdrop.

Visitors enjoyed getting photos of the Mayan-style waterfall under the colored lights, and now you can get views of the new waterfall and the Asian rainforest.

In collaboration with the Botanical Gardens and Luminated Landscapes, the company that is providing the lighting for the show, UB will bring new technology and theatrical design. UB will contribute illuminated sculptures for the front lawn of the Botanical Gardens, as well as a light and soundscape for the interior of the Panama Rainforest greenhouse.

The team of professors, undergraduate students and artists includes Lynne Koscielniak, associate professor of Scenography and chair of UB Theatre & Dance; Jon Shimon, technical director and assistant professor of Technology supervisor of the UB United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) Student Chapter; Dyan Burlingame, project consultant and assistant clinical professor of Scenography, director of Design & Technology; and key undergraduate student researchers and artists Gina Boccolucci, Alex Farley, Hayden Harter, Bethany Kasperek and Leo Tozzi.
