The first ever garden walk for the Springville area will debut this year.

Called Scene Around Town, the walk is organized by the SCENe (Springville Concord Elder Network) Garden Club. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 9.

The walk will be free. Pick up maps at Fiddler’s Green Park, Franklin and S. Buffalo St., Springville.

“We’ve got 20 gardens lined up, and that’s good for the beginning,” said Cindy Goode, president of the SCENe Garden Club.

The gardens will be mostly in the Village of Springville, but gardeners in the Town of Concord can sign up, too. If you’d like to share your garden on the walk, sign up by this coming Tuesday, June 7, so they can include you on the map. Contact Cindy Goode at 864-2015 or clgoode@verizon.net.

Waterman’s Greenhouse, 12317 Vaughn St. (Route 240), East Concord, is sponsoring the walk and is donating prizes for a free drawing. When you pick up the brochure for the walk, you’ll be able to enter your name. Drawings will take place at 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. They will notify the winners by phone.

“Everybody likes to have a chance to win something!” Goode said.

The SCENe Garden Club meets at 10:30 a.m. on the second Monday of each month at the Concord Senior Center, 40 Commerce Dr., Springville. It is looking for new members.

A long drive, but it perked my interest, especially being put together by a garden club.

It’s not much farther than the Hamburg Garden Walk or some of the Open Gardens in the Southtowns. I’m really excited for the Springville gardeners and for visitors!

How do I sign up? Is there advanced registration?

If you want to show your garden on the garden walk, contact Cindy Goode at 864-2015 or clgoode@verizon.net. You have to let her know by June 7 so you can be included on the map. If you want to just look at other people’s gardens, you just pick up a map the day of the walk at Fiddler’s Green Park, Franklin and S. Buffalo St., Springville.
