
Orleans County Cornell Cooperative Extensive Master Gardeners will hold their fall education series at the Orleans County 4-H Fairgrounds, 12690 NY-31, Albion.

The classes will be:
Basic tree identification
6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19 – Harrington Classroom in the Education Center at the Orleans County 4-H Fairgrounds
The cost is $5.
Bring the whole family and enjoy a walk through the Orleans County Cornell Cooperative Extension’s grounds, followed by a more in-depth discussion of basic tree identification techniques. Children’s activities will be provided during the discussion portion of the class. Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear sensible shoes.

Fairy gardens
6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2 – Harrington Classroom in the Education Center at the Orleans County 4-H Fairgrounds
The cost is $12.
Take the opportunity to build your own fairy garden. They will provide pots, small plants, soil and rocks. You may choose from our fairy garden collection to decorate your creation. If you have any small treasures or natural materials you would like to incorporate into your design, bring them along as well.

Mycology 101
6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16 – Harrington Classroom in the Education Center at the Orleans County 4-H Fairgrounds
The cost is $10.
Explore the vast and beautiful world of fungi and mushrooms. Learn how we as humans have used them for food, medicine and other applications to benefit us and the planet for millennia. Learn ways we can grow them, indoors or outdoors, for food or for longevity.

Wreath and centerpiece making
6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30 – Trolley Building at the Orleans County 4-H Fairgrounds
The cost is $15 for a wreath or centerpiece, $25 for both.
Orleans County Master Gardeners will show you how to create your own unique holiday centerpiece or wreath using fresh greens. You will learn which greens will last the longest, basic floral design and how to take care of your centerpiece or wreath.

Berries and fruit trees
6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14 – Harrington Classroom in the Education Center at the Orleans County 4-H Fairgrounds
The cost is $5.
Learn the basics of growing berries and fruit trees on your own property. Come ready to sample a few local apple varieties while the presenters cover site selection and preparation, variety selection, general growing guidelines and orchard pest management.
