Make a miniature garden with a holiday theme during hands-on workshops at Mischler’s Florist and Greenhouses, 118 South Forest Rd., Williamsville.

These tabletop gardens make great gifts. They can serve as a centerpiece at a holiday party, brighten up a desk or reception area in an office or add cheer to a nursing home.

The workshops will be held at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8 at Mischler’s.

Each workshop will last about two hours. The first half of each workshop will consist of an explanation and demonstration by Mischler’s creative staff.  The second half of the workshop will be hands-on, with Mischler’s staff helping you to plant your own fairy garden.

Included in the price of the workshop is a ceramic bowl, potting mix, plants and a holiday figurine. You have a choice of using houseplants or easy-to-care-for succulents.

The fee is $25 and is due the day of the workshop. In addition, Mischler’s will offer a 10 percent discount on any item purchased from their Fairy Nook during the workshop, including new holiday novelties.

If you’d like to make a miniature garden for yourself and a second as a gift, you can do so for an additional $25 fee. Once you understand the basics and make one miniature garden, the second one can be built quickly, so there will be enough time to make two.

You can also purchase the materials you need and make more at home.

Mischler’s has a great selection of containers, furniture, accessories, figurines and plants for fairy gardens and holiday-themed gardens. They’re getting shipments of new items, too.

Space is limited to 15 participants per workshop and reservations are required.  To make reservations, call Mischler’s at 632-1290.
