Sally Cunningham, CNLP, and Ed Dore, Senior Lifetime CNLP, will be honored by the New York State Nursery & Landscape Association at its annual meeting on Aug. 22 in Syracuse.
Both Cunningham and Dore are members of the Western New York State Nursery & Landscape Association.
Cunningham will receive the New York State CNLP of the Year award for 2013 for achievements that benefit the professional nursery and landscape industry.
She has educated the public about science-based gardening and landscaping practices for more than 20 years. Cunningham is co-founder and director of the four-year-old National Garden Festival here in Western New York.
Cunningham also offers garden consultation and education programs at Lockwood’s Greenhouses, 4484 Clark Street, Hamburg.
Dore will receive the 2013 George L. Good Gold Medal of Horticulture.
He is the only person ever to receive all three of the state-wide association’s major awards: the Hall of Fame Award in 2002, CNLP of the Year in 2006, and now the Gold Medal of Horticulture.
He is very involved in the restoration of the Buffalo & Erie County Botanical Gardens and is a past president and current board member of the Western New York State Nursery & Landscape Association.
Dore owns Dore Landscape Associates and Akron Tree Farms.
