The front yard garden of John Taylor of Lockport is in the running for the title of America’s Best Front Yard in an annual competition by Better Homes and Gardens.

His garden was submitted by his wife, Mary Brennan-Taylor.

“Much to my surprise and delight,  John is one of the top 10 finalists from an enormous field of candidates,” she said.

You can vote for your favorite garden here. Taylor’s garden is Number 7. Voting is open until this Friday, June 5.

The backyard is amazing, too! See photos from 2013 here.

You can see Taylor’s landscape in person during Lockport in Bloom, which will be held Saturday and Sunday, July 11 and 12, and during Open Gardens.

  1. Drew, there are many different kinds of gardens. Some are formal, others are cottage style or funky– and that’s okay! We don’t have to like all styles. By the way, his backyard is very different from his front yard. You might like that better. Click back to the previous article.

  2. nice. but very overgrown and large…I would have expected it to be A LOT more manicured and neat. kinda looks like a jungle with a variety of plants, trees, flowers,

  3. I have toured the Taylor’s gardens during the Lockport in Bloom Garden Walk and these gardens are just beautiful! Mr Taylor has done a spectacular job with his gardens!

I hope they win and I have voted for them. Good luck!!
