Applications are now available for Marvin Lunenfeld Beautification Grants, named for Garden Walk Buffalo’s founder. Completed applications are due Feb. 28.
The initiative has funded more than 100 garden beautification projects across the West Side of Buffalo totaling more than $100,000 since 2005.
One objective of Garden Walk Buffalo is to give back to the community by supplying funds to block clubs and neighborhood groups that want to improve their streets and become part of this wonderful weekend event. Since the program launched, the Marvin Lunenfeld Beautification Grants have helped to fund projects including community gardens, hanging flower baskets, street corner planter projects, garden restoration and more.
Funding awards will be announced in early spring. These award projects will be highlighted during this summer’s Garden Walk Buffalo.
Garden Walk Buffalo, the largest garden tour in the United States, is held the last weekend of July each year. This year the free event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, July 28 and 29.
In 2017, more than 400 residences and businesses throughout the West Side of Buffalo opened their creative urban gardens for tens of thousands of visitors from around the U.S., Canada and abroad.
