I just received an email letting me know that Master Gardeners and volunteers in horticulture here in Western New York can sign up for the annual conference and expo of GWA: The Association of Garden Communicators at the member rate. That’s a $150 discount!
To get the member rate, register using the discount code GWA2017-JoinGWA.
There are 31 educational sessions on a variety of topics focusing on horticulture, writing, technology, business, publishing and more.
You’ll have the chance to attend the expo to meet vendors from many gardening businesses. Attendees are excited to not only find out what’s new in plants and tools, but often get samples as well.
See some of our best local gardens in a new way. There’s an early morning photo shoot of the Cottage District where you’ll be able to get shots of the gardens in great light. There will also be bus tours to some gardens you might be familiar with as well as others you might not have yet had a chance to visit.
And you’ll also have the opportunity to connect with garden communicators from the United States, Canada, Great Britain and Australia. It’s a wonderful way to learn what colleagues in other parts of the country– or the world– are doing.
None of this is open to the public. The only way you can access these great activities is to register for GWA 2017.
There is one event open to the public– Meet the Authors. You’ll have the chance to meet a few dozen of the hottest gardening authors in this country and Canada from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4 at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center, 153 Franklin St., Buffalo.
It’s free!
You can buy their books right there at the event, get them signed by the authors and chat with some of the brightest stars in the garden publishing world.
