The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens are gearing up for the holidays.
The whole family can marvel at the colorful, massive displays at Poinsettias: Expect the Unexpected to be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25 to Sunday, Jan. 8 at the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens, 2655 South Park Avenue, Buffalo.
This cheerful exhibit includes more than 1,000 beautiful poinsettias, representing more than 100 different cultivated varieties in a spectrum of colors. Poinsettias are native to Mexico and are often found in tropical forests.
The exhibit will also include whimsical holiday decorations and lots of playful surprises.
At the same time, you can also see the Garden Railway Exhibit, brought to you by the Botanical Gardens and the Western New York Garden Railway Society.
An exhibit called A Winter in Buffalo will be on display from Friday, Nov. 25 to Sunday, Jan. 15 in the Arcangel Gallery located inside the Botanical Gardens. Students in grades 6-8 from Saint Peter and Paul School in Williamsville will exhibit watercolors, printing, soft pastels, oil pastels and other media.
Santa Claus visit from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 for Santa’s Workshop. Visits with Santa and holiday-themed activities are included with Santa’s Workshop. Photo prints with Santa will also be available for $5 each.
Entry for all the exhibits is included in regular admission. Admission is $9 for adults, $8 for seniors and students, $5 for children ages 3-12 and free for Botanical Garden members and children under 3.
Note: The Botanical Gardens will be closed today through Thanksgiving, Nov. 22-24, to set up for the Poinsettia Exhibit and Garden Railway Exhibit.
Other special hours will be 10 a.m. – noon on Christmas Eve, Saturday, Dec. 24; closed on Christmas Day, Sunday, Dec. 25, and open 10 a.m. – noon on New Year’s Eve, Saturday, Dec. 31.
On Dollar Day, Wednesday, Dec. 28, admission will be just $1.
