Poinsettias: Beautiful, traditional, convenient
A gift of poinsettias from Mischler’s Florist and Greenhouses is beautiful and traditional. It’s also fast, easy and convenient to have poinsettias delivered, which is great at this busy time of year.
Home-grown under ideal conditions in Mischler’s greenhouses, the plants are fresh and lush. The poinsettias are available in a variety of attractive colors.
Bonus: Save $5 on delivery when you order a poinsettia by Dec.10 for delivery by Dec. 15. (The reduced delivery fee applies to poinsettia plants only.)
When you order by 10:30 a.m., you can receive same-day delivery in the Buffalo area. It’s easy to order online at www.mischlersflorist.com, or call 632-1290 to speak with one of their friendly representatives.
You’re always welcome to visit for your personal selection of plants at Mischler’s Florist and Greenhouses, 118 South Forest Rd., between Main St. and Wehrle Dr., Williamsville.
We gardeners like gadgets as much as we like decorative ornaments for our gardens. The World’s Coolest Rain Gauge, available from Heimiller Greenhouses, is both a gadget and a decoration.
When this rain gauge is empty, it’s a mild-mannered copper garden accent. But waiting patiently inside the copper flute are a blue tube and foam float. As rain falls into the collection flute, the blue tube rises to show rainfall levels.
The rainfall measurement tube is brightly marked in 1/4-inch increments and will measure up to 6 inches of water. There are a variety of mounting options, increasing the likelihood that the placement will be perfect.
Because the rain gauge collection tube floats up, you can determine the amount of rainfall from up to 30 feet away just by observing how much of the tube is exposed.
The solid copper flute will weather gracefully to a rich patina and the steel mounting stake is powder coated for rust resistance. The measurement tube is polycarbonate—no glass to break. Leave it out in winter if you wish—it’s frost and freeze proof.
Heimiller’s is working to find garden and gift items that are made in the USA to complement their locally grown plants. They have added a new “Made in America” category on their website and are adding items to it every month. Heimiller’s is located at 3038 Ewings Rd., Newfane.
