Learners will be able to attend class remotely and earn up to $1,500 in the Hybrid–Landscape Maintenance Technician program from the Buffalo Center for Arts and Technology (BCAT).
Adults who are accepted into the program will receive a scholarship that will cover 100 percent of tuition, books and work boots.
There will be 30 hours of online classes taught by a live instructor.
There will also be 30 hours of hands-on landscaping training. The confirmed sites so far are Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy and the Buffalo Zoo.
Anyone from Western New York can apply.
“As long as students are able to report to the assigned landscape site, they can apply,” said Krista Berry, executive assistant and grants coordinator at BCAT.
There were 10 openings left as of Tuesday, Jan. 23. The deadline to apply is Monday, Jan. 29.
Students must register in-person at BCAT located at 1221 Main St., Buffalo (across from the Delta Sonic). Registration hours for walk-ins are 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday or contact Berry at kberry@bufcat.org or (716) 259-1680, ext. 151 to schedule an appointment.
See details here. For more information about registering, contact Berry at kberry@bufcat.org.
The program is in collaboration with Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy, and funded by KeyBank in partnership with The Riverline.
Hi Erika, the information in the article is correct. I know it’s confusing; that’s why I included the quote from Krista Berry. You can contact her for more information; see her contact info in the article. Thanks for the question.
The article says anyone from WNY may apply but the actual program description that you provided a link to states “…for adults residing in the city of Buffalo.” Could you verify if this costs-paid opportunity really is for anyone in WNY or just residents of city of Buffalo? That would be very helpful, thank you so much!
