Your garden doesn’t have to be perfect; no one’s ever is. Gardens range from large properties to a few square feet – it is the diversity that makes this event a success.
There is no judging and no prizes. The objective of the walk has always been to encourage neighborhood beautification and to promote community pride. Just fill out the registration form and your garden can become part of this wonderful event.
When you fill out the registration form, you decide how much access to give visitors. If you want people to see only your front garden, that is up to you. You simply indicate that and mark the box on the lawn sign that will be provided to you.
Garden Walk Buffalo will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, July 29 and 30.
Garden Walk Buffalo is the largest free garden tour in the country. In 2016, more than 400 residences and businesses throughout the west side of Buffalo opened their creative urban gardens.
More than 60,000 visitors visit Garden Walk Buffalo from all over the United States, Canada, and even further abroad. The event has an estimated economic impact of $4.5 million.
Register as vendor for Garden Art Sale
The deadline to register as a vendor for the Garden Art Sale has been extended to May 15.
Vendors of garden-oriented or nature-themed works that can be displayed in a garden setting are being sought for the Buffalo-style Garden Art Sale to be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, June 24 and 25, at the Buffalo & Erie County Botanical Gardens, 2655 South Park Ave., Buffalo.
Gardens Buffalo Niagara seeks executive director
Here’s some exciting news: The group that organizes the garden walks, Open Gardens and so many other gardening events in Western New York, is looking for an executive director. This position should help the many volunteers who already work so hard on all of these events keep things rolling.
Applications are due May 15.
The position will be filled by an independent contractor who will work part-time, about 10-15 hours per week with more hours during the summer.
The executive director is the key management leader of Gardens Buffalo Niagara. The executive director will be responsible for overseeing the administration, programs and strategic plan of Gardens Buffalo Niagara. Other key duties will include fundraising, working closely with the Board of Directors, marketing, and community and volunteer outreach. See details here.
