Arbor Day lecture on native trees, shrubs

Friends of the Maud Gordon Holmes Arboretum at Buffalo State will hold an Arbor Day lecture at 3 p.m. Friday, April 24 in Technology Building, room 160, at SUNY Buffalo State University, 1300 Elmwood Ave., Buffalo.
Guest speaker Ken Parker will discuss “Native Trees and Shrubs for Western New York Landscapes.”

Parker, of Seneca heritage, is an Indigenous horticulturist, native plant educator and ecological consultant with more than 30 years of experience in ecological restoration and sustainable landscape design. A lifetime New York State Certified Nursery and Landscape Professional (CNLP), he integrates indigenous ecological knowledge with horticultural science to advance resilient, regionally appropriate landscapes across the United States and Canada.
