Wild Spirit Education is sponsoring a two-part program on “Wild Foraging and Preparation,” where participants will be introduced to identifying, ethically harvesting and preparing wild plants for food and health.
These hands-on sessions will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 25 and May 2.
The first session, Field Herbalism, will take place on April 25 at the Erie County Forest Lands, Genesee Road and Warner Gulf Rd., Sardinia, and will focus on precautions, plant identification and sustainable harvesting.
The second session, Kitchen Prep, will be held on May 2 in Hope Lutheran Church, 2 East Main St., Arcade. It will cover home preparation and uses of wild plants.
Registration and the fee schedule are available at Nature in WNY’s Meetup Site.
NOTE: Due to the risks associated with wild foraging, these sessions are restricted to people ages 12 and older; children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal custodian.
