The Samuel P. Capen Garden Walk will be held from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday July 12.
Garden Walk Maps are available at the UB Anderson Gallery, 1 Martha Jackson Place, off Englewood south of Kenmore Ave., Buffalo.
This year a limited number of shuttle vans will be available to Garden Walk visitors. You can catch the shuttle at the UB Anderson Gallery. These vans are being sponsored by UB’s Office of Community Relations.
This event is a free, self-guided tour (held rain or shine) that showcases over 70 private gardens and landscaped public green spaces throughout the University at Buffalo-South Campus neighborhoods, along with neighboring communities in Amherst, Kenmore and Eggertsville.
2014 marks the 13th year of the Samuel P. Capen Garden Walk, which began in 2002 with just 24 gardens and has since almost tripled both in number and regional expanse. The event pays tribute to Samuel P. Capen, who was the first full-time, salaried Chancellor of the University at Buffalo from 1922-1950. The Capen Garden Walk is designed to encourage strong communities through a variety of collaborative neighborhood beautification & revitalization projects.
This year’s sponsors include the University at Buffalo Office of Community Relations, City of Buffalo-Office of the University District Council Member, University Heights Collaborative, Inc., Queen City Imaging and neighboring businesses in and around the University at Buffalo community.
