Cornell University Cooperative Extension’s Master Gardeners in Cattaraugus County will present a free gardening lecture series called Wednesdays in the Arboretum from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays from July 9 through August 20 at the Nannen Arboretum, 28 Parkside Dr., Ellicottville.
On Aug. 20 the programs will be “The Basics of Hydrangeas: Demystifying the Species” by Master Gardener Pat Kerl and “Ways to Get Your Workout In While Gardening” by Master Gardener Jessi Caparco.
In case of rain, classes will be held indoors. You may attend one or all of the classes.
Each week participants will also have the opportunity to take home potted perennials. For a small donation, participants can increase the variety of plants within their own garden.
Fresh vegetables from the garden will be available upon maturity. Check out the techniques used in the demonstration vegetable garden.
New this year is an evening of activities for children on Aug. 6. Check the entire schedule.
The programs are free and open to the public, and no pre-registration is required.
