Cornell University Cooperative Extension’s Master Gardeners in Cattaraugus County will present a free gardening lecture series called Wednesdays in the Arboretum from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays from July 9 through August 20 at the Nannen Arboretum, 28 Parkside Dr., Ellicottville.
There will be program on “Hawk Creek Nature Sanctuary: Live Raptors and Mammals” by Master Gardener Jay Newman, and “Fresh Eggs Daily: Raising Chickens” by Marilyn Siperek.
There will be two lectures each evening conducted by Master Gardeners and other local experts. All are free of charge and will be held in the outdoor classrooms at the arboretum. In case of rain, classes will be held indoors. You may attend one or all of the classes.
Each week participants will also have the opportunity to take home potted perennials. For a small donation, participants can increase the variety of plants within their own garden.
Fresh vegetables from the garden will be available upon maturity. Check out the techniques used in the demonstration vegetable garden.
