Watercolor IV, ‘Mysterious Mountains’

The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens is offering new series of online watercolor classes called Watercolor IV – Masters. 

“Mysterious Mountains” will be held from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, September 16, 23 and 30 and Oct. 7.

Create luminescent rolling mountains utilizing “wet in wet” as well as “wet in dry” techniques, glazing, and textural effects are used to give your painting depth and excitement. Create a mood within your painting by the use of color and technique. Please review the supply list to purchase before the start of class.

421 – September 16 – Atmospheric perspective is introduced (utilizing color, size, detail), to achieve depth in paintings. Wet in wet technique is used to create sky and mountains, glazing utilized to continue building depth introduced.

422 – September 23 – Glazing techniques continued to strengthen mountains and sky. Wet in dry technique is introduced to create texture and detail within the mountains.

423 – September 30 – Vegetation is added to give interest in the painting. Students continue with creating details on the mountains.

424 – October 7 – Techniques that have been learned will be reinforced, as well as any remaining questions about individual paintings addressed.

The cost is $78 per series for the general public and $70.20 per series for members of the Botanical Gardens.
