Frank Lloyd Wright’s Martin House Estate will hold garden-related workshops at 6 p.m. Thursdays in July at the Darwin Martin House, 125 Jewett Parkway, Buffalo.

The Martin House landscape is also an Open Garden. The landscape will be open from 2-6 pm each Thursday in July.
July 1: The Ins and Outs of a Historic Landscape with The English Gardener, $10
Learn what it means to restore and maintain a historic landscape. Join English Gardener staff and a Martin House Landscape Docent to explore the site, the variety of plants, and the relationship between the landscape design and the Martin House. Participants will have a chance to plant & take home a small plant. All supplies provided.
July 8: DIY Flower Essences Workshop with Bru Apothecary, $10
Join us for this flower essences workshop, coinciding with July’s new moon. Nnenna Ferguson of Bru Apothecary will walk participants through the process of creating a flower essence. Because collecting flower essences happens over a period of time—can’t rush nature!—participants will leave with information and the supplies to complete the process at home. Beginners are welcome. All supplies are provided.
July 15: Growing and Caring for Perennials with Urban Roots, $5
Join Urban Root’s General Manager Patti Jablonski-Dopkin for a chance to explore the world of perennials: their life cycles, needs for soil, ways to divide them, and how to fix issues that might arise. Along the way, you’ll see the many perennials throughout the Martin House historic landscape.
July 22: How to Houseplant Sustainably with Put a Plant On It, $10
How do we make sure we’re making the right choices while we houseplant? Join Johanna C. Dominguez, owner and head plant queen of Put a Plant on It, to learn more about soil and how we can make better decisions so you can grow healthier plants and sustain a happier planet. Participants will leave with a small & sustainably-planted succulent.
July 29: Mixology Workshop with Billy Club, $10
Ever wonder when to stir vs. when to shake? Join a mixologist from Billy Club for this hands-on workshop as the group creates a Martin House-inspired craft cocktail using edible plants from the landscape. Non-alcoholic options also available.
