Learn companion planting practices, hear about “must have” plants, and learn easy and affordable techniques to turn your landscape into a welcome retreat during the Spring Gardening Seminar held by Penn State Extension from 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.  Saturday, April 5 at the H.O. Hirt Auditorium inside the Blasco Library, 160 East Front St., Erie, Pa. 16507.

Learn how to make a big difference in the beauty and enjoyment of your landscape at “Easy & Affordable Landscape Makeovers,” a lecture by certified arborist, author and TV and radio host Melinda Myers from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. A question and answer period will follow Myers’ lecture from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Get details on the organic and companion planting practices used in the gardens at the Emmaus Grove Erie Urban Farm School from Rosemary Gantz and Ellen DiPlacido from 9 – 9:30 a.m.

Learn about new varieties of plants that gardeners “must have”  for 2014 from Josh Skarzenski of Stan’s Garden Center from 9:30 a.m. – 10 a.m.

Refreshments, door prizes, a light brunch and educational materials are included in the ticket price. Registration is $40 and the deadline to register is Tuesday, April 1.
