These events all take place at the Audubon Community Nature Center, 1600 Riverside Road, Jamestown, N.Y., one-quarter mile east of Route 62 between Jamestown, N.Y., and Warren, Pa.

While carefully following New York State COVID-19 guidelines, the Nature Center has been able to reimagine many of their activities and again has a full events schedule, as described below, for November and  December.

Audubon’s COVID-19 safety precautions require face coverings for all visitors ages 3 and up for indoor programs. Face coverings are also required outdoors when visitors cannot maintain six feet of distance between family groups.

Wednesday, November 4, 5:30-6:15 p.m. OR 6:45-7:30 p.m., Terrarium Make-and-Take. Directions, examples, and basic building materials provided. $10, $7.50 Nature Center members and children ages 3-15, free 2 and under. Space is limited. Saturday, November 14, 10-11:30 a.m., Little Explorers: “The Big Move: Migration.” Children ages 3-8 and their favorite grown-up enjoy a nature lesson, walk, craft, and a snack, making for a fun-filled morning of learning. $8; $6 Nature Center members and children ages 3-8. Saturday, November 14, 10- 11 a.m. OR 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. OR 1-2 p.m., Live Hawk and Owl Encounter. A close-up program with birds of prey from Wild Spirit Education. $8, $6 Nature Center members and children ages 3-15, free 2 and under. Space is limited. Saturday, November 21, 10 a.m.-noon, Audubon Remembers: Nature walk, remarks and bulb planting to celebrate those who have connected this community with nature; optional craft, hiking, Nature Center exploration. Saturday, November 28, 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Small Business Saturday. The Blue Heron Gift Shop is stocked for the holidays with gifts including many unique to Audubon. Everything 10 percent off plus 10 percent off all new Nature Center memberships. Members receive an additional 10 percent off all items.

Wednesday, December 2, 5:30-6:30 p.m. OR 6:45-7:45 p.m., Decorating with Greens Make-n-Take. Wednesday, December 30, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Christmas with the Critters: Meet the Nature Center’s live animals in mini-presentations every half hour, make them a holiday gift, explore specimens and artifacts. take a behind-the-scenes Bald Eagle tour. $8, $6 Nature Center members and children ages 3-15, free 2 and under. Admission for this event can be a gift taken and purchased for the Giving Tree in the lobby. Wrapped gifts are redeemable for admission as well as cash and credit cards.
