Jamestown Audubon will hold its 2014 Secret Gardens Tour from 10:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, July 12, rain or shine.
Featured gardens are in Jamestown, Lakewood, and Celoron, New York. This year’s tour boasts eight gardens, including three “pocket” gardens all in one block in the city of Jamestown — a first for this event.
“We call them ‘secret’ because unless you know the gardeners personally, the only way you can see their amazing creations is to come on our tour,” said organizer Merle Szydlo.
Presale tickets for $10 go on sale on Memorial Day at the Audubon Center & Sanctuary at 1600 Riverside Road, one-quarter mile east of Route 62 between Jamestown, NY, and Warren, PA as well as other locations in the Jamestown area.
Tickets for $12 can be purchased at the participating gardens on the day of the tour.
The Secret Gardens Tour supports the nature education programs of the Audubon Center & Sanctuary. The Nature Center building, housing the Blue Heron Gift Shop and exhibits of live fish, reptiles, amphibians and more, is open Monday-Saturday 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Sundays 1-4:30 p.m. The Sanctuary’s five and a half miles of trails, Bald Eagle viewing, arboretum, and multiple gardens are open dawn to dusk every day.
