Raising Meat Chickens will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 13 at the Frank W. Bratt Agricultural Center, 3542 Turner Rd., Jamestown.
Whether you’re interested in raising a few chickens in your backyard or developing your own chicken-based enterprise, this workshop will give you the tools to get started. This class will focus on meat bird production, covering everything you need to know about raising your own chickens for family consumption or profit.
Topics to be discussed are housing, feeding, health, weather and predator concerns, processing, food safety, and more.
Lynn Bliven, Cornell Cooperative Extension Allegany County Issue Leader, has many years of poultry raising experience.
The fee is $10/person. Light refreshments will be offered.
Doors open 30 minutes before the start of the session. Please arrive early to complete your registration. Pre-registration is encouraged.
