A Plants We Eat Picnic will be held from noon – 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17 at the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens, 2655 South Park Avenue, Buffalo.
Explore and taste the different plants that people eat during this light lunch and fun learning experience for children ages 5 – 12. Squeeze oranges into juice, sample fruits from around the world, and create a salad while learning about vegetables. Finally, grind wheat to make flour to knead into bread dough. Then, adventure on a tour through the Gardens to spy bananas, oranges and the largest lemon you’ll ever see.
Pre-registration is required; space is limited to 30 kids.
The cost is $10 for Botanical Gardens members and $12 for non-members. Dress for summer but be sure to wear a warm coat for when the group goes outside between buildings.
Go here to register or call (716) 827-1584, ext. 291.
