The Martin Estate at Gray cliff is offering a special evening devoted to landscape architect Ellen Shipman. Tickets include a cocktail reception (hors d’oeuvres, cash bar), and lectures by Rebecca Allan, Artist and Garden Designer/Owner, Painterly Gardens) and Patricia M. O’Donnell, PLA, FASLA, AICP, Founder and Partner, Heritage Landscapes LLC.
Orchestrating the Landscape: Ellen Shipman’s Western New York Gardens has been organized as a two-day program focusing on Shipman’s remarkable achievements at Graycliff, (where she designed detailed planting plans to augment Frank Lloyd Wright’s initial landscape layout for Isabelle and Darwin Martin’s summer house), as well as a recently revitalized private garden in Buffalo, among others.
Orchestrating the Landscape: Ellen Shipman’s Western New York Gardens has been organized to include these keynote lectures on Thursday, May 11 at the Twentieth Century Club (595 Delaware Ave, Buffalo) followed by garden tours on Friday, May 12. We encourage participation in one or all of these three garden-focused events. Space is limited on the garden tours and advance registration is required.
