The Niagara Frontier Botanical Society will meet from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9 in the Harlem Road Community Center, 4255 Harlem Rd., Amherst.
Andrea Locke will speak on “Kankakee Sands—High Diversity Prairie and Savanna Restoration in NW Indiana.” It is a site containing more than 100 rare and endangered species.
Locke is the coordinator of the WNY Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management (PRISM), based at the Great Lakes Center on the Buffalo State College campus. She has also worked for The Nature Conservancy in Indiana restoring sand prairie and black oak savanna ecosystems, and has worked on similar projects in Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin.
Locke was originally scheduled to speak in January, but that meeting was cancelled due to bad weather.
All meetings are free and open to the public.
