The Niagara Frontier Botanical Society will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14 in the Harlem Road Community Center, 4225 Harlem Rd., Amherst.

“The Long History of Apples” will be presented by Darrel Oakes, owner of Lynoaken Farms, one of the largest commercial apple growers in Western New York. In 2006 he partnered with an Amish horticulturist to plant more than 350 varieties of heritage apples, including many varieties dating from the 1700s and 1800s. He will bring both apples and wines for the group to sample.
