The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens will host an exhibition of artwork by Melanie Fisher from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 15 through Aug. 18 at the Botanical Gardens, 2655 South Park Ave., Buffalo.
Melanie Fisher’s sculptures are organic and otherworldly. With influences from nature and science fiction, she transforms large ceramic forms into a new hybrid of species. She mixes characteristics from plants and humans, mimicking artificial selection by carefully manipulating the clay to create new hybrids. By working in a range of scales and mediums, Melanie explores the connections between our micro and macro worlds, imagining the opportunity to discover something previously unknown. Her unique collection will be scattered throughout the Botanical Gardens.
The exhibit is included with Botanical Gardens admission. The Gardens will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays for June, July and August this year.
Admission is $11 for adults, $10 for seniors (ages 62 and older), $9 for students (ages 13 and older with ID), $6 for children ages 3 – 12 and free for Botanical Gardens members and children 2 and under.
