Magnificent Mushrooms in Portville

Date(s) - Saturday, Aug 25, 2018
10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Pfeiffer Nature Center, Lillibridge Preserve

Magnificent Mushrooms will be presented from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 25 at Pfeiffer Nature Center, 1974 Lillibridge Road, Portville.

Mushrooms are a variety of fungi that produce a fleshy fruiting body. When most of us think of a mushroom, we picture a white, umbrella-shaped cap that rests precariously on a thick, grey stalk, but mushrooms come in many different shapes, sizes and colors. Not only are they beautiful to observe, they play a fundamental role for life on earth.

Garrett Taylor, mushroom enthusiast, will lead the group on a hike through the woods of the Lillibridge Preserve to share interesting tidbits about many different species of fungus.

The fee is $10 for non-members, $5 for members, and free for children under 13. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Sign up by 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23. Register here or contact the office at 716-933-0187.
