A workshop on mushrooms will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 1 at Lockwood’s Greenhouses, 4484 Clark St., Hamburg.
The fee is $10.
Olga Tzogas of Smugtown Mushrooms in Rochester will lead the workshop.
Take a look at the roles mushrooms play within our lives, the forest and in food systems. Cultivating mushrooms in logs and wood chips is a trend in woodlots, gardens and other landscapes. Learn the basics on incorporating these permaculture practices. There will be a hands-on demonstrations with pre-drilled logs for outdoor mushroom log cultivation & Wine Cap mushroom installation. Learn basic concepts of mycology (mushroom growing), explore their biology and ecology, and learn some basic methods for growing mushrooms in your garden for soil & plant health and for eating.
Mushroom grow kits and other supplies will be available for purchase at the presentation and in the store at Lockwood’s during the season.
