The Kenmore Garden Club will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13 at Kenmore United Methodist Church, 32 Landers Rd., Kenmore.

Robert Poczik will speak on “Theodore Roosevelt and the Environment.” In 1914, Theodore Roosevelt, haunted by political defeat, embarked with his son and several naturalist friends on an ill-fated expedition on a rapids-choked river in a remote, unexplored area deep in the Amazon rainforest. Along the way, Roosevelt and his men faced an unbelievable series of hardships, bringing Roosevelt to the brink of suicide. This is a spellbinding, heart-pounding story you will not want to miss. Photographs taken during the expedition will be shown as slides.
