An introduction to Mushroom Growing workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 24 at the Frank Bratt Agricultural Center, 3542 Turner Rd., Jamestown.
It is presented by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County’s Agriculture Program as part of their 2017-2018 L.E.A.F. (Learn. Empower. Achieve. Farm.) Workshop Series.
Join Cornell University Professor Emeritus Ken Mudge, co-author of “Farming The Woods,” to learn more about forest cultivation of shitake, and other specialty mushrooms for home or small farm-scale production. Learn the proper tree species, timing, inoculation and management techniques, along with the basic economics and marketing. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will be able to take home an inoculated log. More information will be announced later.
The cost is $40 per family.
Pre-registration is required prior to the workshop to allow for adequate time to prepare printed resources and materials.
