Spend the afternoon at the Historic Chestnut Cabin Open House 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Sunday, July 10 at the Pfeiffer Nature Center, 1974 Lillibridge Rd., Portville.
The Pfeiffer cabin is listed on the national and state registers of historic places. The American Chestnut cabin is a very well preserved specimen of rustic style whose basic integrity has remained unchanged since its 1939/1940 construction. The cabin is a gem of the Lillibridge preserve and an indoor exploration is not to be missed. Joshua Roth from the Pennsylvania Lumber Museum will share the story of the area’s rich lumbering history and the care of neighboring forests.
The open house is free and open to the public. Donations are accepted.
