The Ground Beneath Our Feet: A Three-Part Series will be held Thursday, July 14, 21 and 28 by the Pfeiffer Nature Center.

Explore the fascinating world of the ground beneath our feet and the cool stuff it supports above. While there is no requirement to attend all three programs, the organizers hope that you can.

The programs are free and open to the public. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Soil vs Dirt, 6:30 pm Thursday, July 14 at Portville Free Library, 2 North Main Street, Portville.

Explore the major components of soil, discuss their unique functions and learn how we can best support this crucial, life-giving resource.

Organic Farm Field Trip, 6:30 pm Thursday, July 21

Join a tour of the USDA/NOFA Certified Organic J. Faulkner Farm at 990 Olean-Portville Rd., Portville. Jim and Gail Faulkner will show how a wide variety of produce is locally grown and discuss the benefits organic farming offers to human health as well as to the health of our environment.

Regenerative Farm Field Trip, 6:30 pm Thursday, July 28

Regenerative farming is an ethical and ecological approach to farming that produces healthy food for people while enabling landscapes to renew themselves. Join grass farmer Jonathan Ault in an exploration of Sojourner Farm, 943 East Windfall Rd., Olean. See how beef, pork, lamb and chicken can be grown in a manner that benefits living organisms of all shapes and sizes both above and below ground.
