Audubon Community Nature Center will host an American Red Cross Blood Drive from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26, at 1600 Riverside Rd., one-quarter mile east of Route 62 between Jamestown, New York, and Warren, Pennsylvania.
The incentive is “A Pint for a Pound.” For every pint of blood donated, the Red Cross will gift a pound of Conewango Blend birdseed to the donor. Conewango Blend is a mix of birdseed formulated by Audubon’s own experts to attract a wide array of birds to your feeders. Donors can choose either to take home their pound or to donate it for Audubon’s feeders.
Because the need for blood is even greater during the holiday season, donors will also receive an additional special gift of a long-sleeved t-shirt.
Remember to take a photo ID, eat well and drink plenty of water before coming to donate. Wear comfortable, loose clothing. Prepare to spend between an hour and an hour and a half donating blood. Then take time to view the Nature Center exhibits and the birds at the feeders.
Appointments are preferred, but not required. For questions regarding eligibility or to schedule an appointment, phone 1-800-733-2767 or go online to redcrossblood.org.
