6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
The four public gardens in Black Rock and Riverside will all be hosting a free party from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16. The gardens are amazing community assets to be shared with everyone. All are welcome. Come have a snack, watch a demonstration, or just bring a book and relax. The gardens are located at:
- The Black Rock Heritage Garden at Dearborn & Hamilton will have a live yoga class from 6-7 p.m. and belly dancing around 7 p.m., along with free pizza, soda and face painting for kids.
- Farmer’s Garden at Farmer & Guernsey will have sidewalk chalk, bubbles and more for the kids, along with pizza.
- The Esser Garden at Esser & Henrietta and
- the Riverside Peace Garden at 179 Ontario will also have snacks or events.
Defence Lab Buffalo, a self-defense and martial arts studio on Amherst Street, will be putting on free demonstrations and holding a class in one or more of the gardens.
You can buy a “passport” book at all of the gardens. It costs $1 and if you get it stamped at all four gardens you are entered to win half the proceeds of the passport sale. The other half of the proceeds will be split equally among the four gardens, which are all non-profit, volunteer run gardens under Grassroots Gardens of Buffalo. Any donations of tools, seeds, or gift cards to local hardware stores are also appreciated, but not required, as they are always in need of supplies.
