The Massachusetts Avenue Project (MAP) will host Food as Medicine, a three-part series of workshops, at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 16, Feb. 13 and March 13 in the farmhouse at MAP, 387 Massachusetts Ave., Buffalo.
These workshops are presented by Christine Fleming, JRCHC Clinical Dietician.
This series will cover the ways in which good nutrition can positively impact your health with realistic and delicious ways to incorporate into your everyday life.
Feb. 13: Heart Health
Celebrate heart month by learning about foods that can protect your heart and decrease your risk of heart disease. The workshop will cover a variety of examples of heart-healthy foods that can be incorporated into meals, snacks and even desserts.
March 13: Immune-Boosting Nutrition
This class will cover nutrition strategies to promote a healthy immune system. In addition to learning about natural remedies to protect the body against sicknesses like the flu and common cold, the class will look into which foods and beverages to eat more of (and what to avoid) when one starts to feel under the weather.
The workshops are presented by MAP in partnership with Jericho Road Community Health Center. Registration is available online and participants are asked to pay what they can.
