The Niagara Frontier Botanical Society will take a trip to Dysart Woods Preserve in Belmont, eastern Ohio (southwest of Pittsburgh). A current member visited the site and gave a rave review.
Because of the distance, this will be an overnight trip. They will leave Saturday morning, June 7 and return Sunday night, June 8. Call 835-6042 for information and reservations.
The preserve is 430 acres in size, 50 acres of which are untouched, truly virgin forest. It contains 17 tree species, including ancient giants 140 feet tall with 4-foot diameter trunks.
