The Niagara Frontier Botanical Society will hold a field trip to possibly see spring ephemerals Como Park, 2220 Como Park Blvd., Lancaster at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 8.
Years ago Como Park was renowned for its spring ephemerals, especially white trout lilies along the lake, but invasive lesser celandine has been overrunning the native plants. We will see if we can find any remaining native plants, and also explore sections of the park away from the lake.
Those wishing to participate in a field trip MUST contact the trip leader to confirm whether the field trip will occur as scheduled. Guests are welcome. Contact J. Schlegel, leader, at 835-6042.
Directions: Route 20 (Broadway) past Lancaster City Hall, right on Lake, left on Como Park Blvd, left on Quincy and into the park. Meet at first parking lot on right.
