Farming workshop: access to capital

Cornell Cooperative Extension Chautauqua County’s Agriculture Program will host a series of farming workshops called L.E.A.F. (Learn. Empower. Achieve. Grow.) for homesteaders, agriculture enthusiasts, established farms that are looking to diversify, beginning farmers and everyone in between.

Classes generally will be held at the Frank W. Bratt Agriculture Center, 3542 Turner Rd., Jamestown.

Introduction to Maple Production
7 – 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, $5 per farm family.

Introduction to Poultry Production (for Backyard Growers and Beyond)
9 – 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov.14, $10 per farm family.

Introduction to Livestock Production
9 – 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, $5 per farm family.

Plant and Soil Health and Fertility, Crop Insurance
7 – 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, $5 per farm family.

Pathway to Organic Certification
7 – 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, $5 per family. (Tentative).

Marketing your Product to Consumers
7 – 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, $5 per farm family.

Introduction to Small Berry Production
9 – 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, $5 per farm family.

It is not necessary for participants to attend each class, so you can choose which classes you would like to participate in.
