Audubon Community Nature Center will present the workshop Late Summer Harvests 1 – 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1 at the home of the presenters, Scott and Pam Stoleson in Sugar Grove, Pennsylvania.

In this last session of the year, you will be harvesting the last veggies, fruit, and tubers of the season in anticipation of another painfully long, snowy, non-gardening season. You’ll also discuss planting a cover crop in harvested areas to replenish the soil’s organic material, preparing to plant the first plants for next season (garlic!), and putting the garden to bed for the winter.  You’ll finish the course with a feast of home-grown veggies, possibly augmented by harvests from other farms nearby.

This is the last in a series of five hands-on gardening classes offered by organic gardeners Scott and Pam Stoleson. This hands-on, taste-buds-on workshop will take place at the Stoleson’s home in Sugar Grove, Pennsylvania. Driving directions will be emailed to registrants on the Thursday before the workshop.

Keep in mind that you could get dirty.

Fee for the workshop is $19 and for Nature Center members, $15. Driving directions will be emailed to registrants on the Thursday before the workshop.

Enrollment is limited. Paid reservations are required by Wednesday, Sept. 27. For information, email jschlick@auduboncnc.org. You can register online.
