Learn how to identify edible fall plants in a workshop at 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27 at the Audubon Nature Center, 1600 Riverside Rd, one-quarter mile east of Route 62 between Jamestown, NY, and Warren, PA.

Admission is $16 for the public and $12 for Friends of the Nature Center.

Class size is limited. The reservation deadline is Thursday, Sept. 24. To register call (716) 569-2345 during business hours or register online.

The workshop will start inside with some basic ground rules and safety considerations about harvesting wild edibles. Participants then will head outside to identify edibles available in the fall as well as some plants you definitely do not want to eat. They will return inside to taste samples and discuss easy ways to make wild plants part of your meal.

Instructor Katie Finch is a naturalist at the Nature Center who has been eating “weeds” for years.

Remember to dress for the weather. This class has both inside and outside components, including a walk up to one mile on flat ground.
