Frank W. Bratt Agricultural Center
Cornell Cooperative Extension Chautauqua County’s Master Gardeners Program will hold their final Evening in the Garden at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16 at the Franklin W. Bratt Agricultural Center, 3542 Turner Rd., Jamestown.
Chautauqua County Master Gardeners will present information to help you prepare your vegetable gardens for the winter and will discuss different cover crops that can be used. They will discuss problems that occurred on vine crops, including cucumbers, zucchini and squash, this gardening season. Master gardeners will discuss which seeds are good to save for next year and how to save them. Reg Boutwell will bring in some “funky” gourds that have grown in his garden this summer. And finally there will be a garden tasting including rutabaga, salsa made with tomatillos, eggplant melanzana with crusty bread and ground cherries – can we eat them?
The Evening in the Garden Program is held rain or shine. The group will meet inside the ag center if the weather prevents meeting in the garden.
