The Evening in the Garden will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 15 in the demonstration garden at the Frank Bratt Ag Center, 3542 Turner Rd., Jamestown.

It will be held rain or shine. In case of rain, the Evening in the Garden will be held inside the Ag center.

It is presented by the Master Gardeners of Chautauqua County.

All the beds have been planted and the Master Gardeners invite you to come and see the progress, what’s doing well and what problems have come forth during this dry spring.

One of the highlights of this session will be the discussion of native plants and their use in a vegetable garden.

Participants will taste radishes and spinach grown in the garden and learn how and when to replant these.

There will be discussions about the 3 x 3 beds that have been planted, including the square foot gardening beds.

A demonstration will be shown on proper mulching techniques and how to mulch with leaves.

pH testing will be available if you bring a small amount of dry soil from your garden.

Master Gardeners will be present to answer your gardening questions and are eager to hear everyone’s gardening ideas.

Master Gardeners who are involved in the demonstration garden are Reg Boutwell, Andrea McLean, Jan Barelle, Camille Guinnane, Jim Cowan, Carol Lorenc, Mary Erlandson, Carolyn Smallback, Beth Stuart, Richard Selden and Peg Hite.
