These documentary films are part of the Food Is Our Medicine project initiatives to improve the health and well-being of the community and to raise awareness of the crucial role that sound food decisions play in this process.
All films are PG-13.
The movies start take place at 7 p.m. Thursdays in the Ray Evans Theater, 10 Main St., Salamanca. Admission is free.
Oct. 16: Monsanto gives a look inside the world’s largest agricultural company dedicated to producing and distributing genetically modified seeds.
Oct. 23: Food, Inc. is a look at modern industry practices and why they need to change.
Oct. 30: Fed Up. America’s obesity epidemic is out of control. That’s just the surface of the food problem.
Nov. 6: Farmegeddon investigates local food movements and the problems they face from government agencies.
Nov. 13: Forks Over Knives. America’s is based on meat and dairy– Can we really become healthier by eating solely vegan?
Nov. 20: Got the Facts on Milk? examines the nutritional claims on America’s favorite health drink.
INGREDIENTS is cancelled Dec. 4: Ingredients explores local food movements and how they change the food insecurity issues many Americans face.
Dec. 11: Vanishing Bees. Little bee, big mystery: An exploration of the worldwide disappearance of honeybees.
