Learn about edible plants during “Food, Water, Shelter: Beginner’s Survival Basics,” a class to be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at the Nature Center of Genesee Country Village & Museum, 1410 Flint Hill Road, Mumford.

Join master naturalist Chris Kieber and herbalist Dave Kieber for a hands-on beginner’s survival program. Be prepared if the unexpected should ever happen. Learn to build a fire with flint and steel, understand the principles of way-finding, hike through the woods to discover local edible and useful plants, find out how to build an emergency shelter and discover what should go in your personal survival kit.
Participants should bring a lunch and come dressed for the weather.
This class is for ages 16 to adult. The fee is $40 for non-members and $35 for members.
