Celebrating Soil will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 11 by 5 Loaves Farm and the Indeterminacy Festival at 5 Loaves Farm, 1172 West Ave., Buffalo.

Discover how together as a community we can create and maintain soil health in our gardens and urban farms. Participate in how-to worskhop, try hands-on activity, and share a meal in honor of St. Isadore, the patron saint of farmers.


2:00 – 3:00 p.m. How-to workshop on residential composting with Ignacio Villa, The Farmer Pirates

3:15 – 4:00 p.m. Research Presentation about Soil Health and Safety with Sharon Bachman, Agriculture & Natural Resources Educator at Cornell Cooperative Extension in Erie County

4:00 – 5:45 p.m. Soil Building Activity in the Garden

6:00 pm Dinner St. Isidore’s Feast of Soup and Bread

This event is a part of this year’s third annual Indeterminacy Festival themed PastFuture/FuturePast, focusing on our past and future communication with the earth and beyond.
